Farmstead Pasture-Raised Chickens

Our Grateful Plate Farmstead pasture-raised chickens are a great way to add healthy, locally grown meat to your diet. A roasted chicken, chicken bone broth, and a chicken salad sandwich . . . it’s possible to make all three of these from just one of our pasture-raised chickens. Chickens are a versatile item in your kitchen, and they are a great way to serve healthy, delicious food to your family, while also getting the most from your food dollars.

How we care for our chickens

From the moment the chicks arrive on the Farmstead, they are handled with care. They spend their first weeks in our brooders, where they are kept warm and safe from predators. They are fed a formulated ration of non-GMO (no corn, no soy) feed and have plenty of cool, clean well water to drink. They spend their days in the brooder running around getting exercise and taking naps. Once they are about 2-3 weeks old, on a sunny morning, they are moved outdoors onto pasture, where they thrive on sunshine and fresh air. They enjoy their days scratching around in the dirt, looking for bugs, and eating the green grass - living life the way a chicken is meant to live.

Our chickens are processed on farm. They are weighed, packaged, labeled, and ready for you to pick up at the Farmstead on your specific pick-up date.

Pasture-raised chicken FAQs:

what are the order and pickup dates?

Choose your chicken based on the approximate pickup date you prefer.

You will receive a confirmation email once you place your order. We will email your exact pickup date approximately one to two weeks ahead of the processing day so you can add it to your calendar.

*Orders must be picked up at the farm. Shipping is NOT available.

How do you price your chickens, and is there a minimum number I need to order?

There is no minimum required order. In order to simplify your planning and purchasing, we charge a flat fee of $25 per bird, rather than per pound. This way you know exactly how much your number of birds will cost. We use a target weight of 4lbs per processed bird, however each animal is unique so weights will vary. Idaho state sales tax of 6% will be added at time of purchase.

How do I place my order?

In the Farmstead Store, click the corresponding button for your preferred PICK-UP date, select the number of chickens you would like, enter your purchase info to complete your order, and you’re DONE!
